I did this short out and back ride to Puerto del Viento on New Year’s day. That should say enough about the lack of inspiration to do a proper loop in the beautiful surroundings of Ronda and the Sierra de las Nieves.
The route
The route is simple: you take off in Ronda and go to El Burgo, and back. Along the way is 1 climb: the amazing Puerto del Viento.
From the Ronda side, this hardly feels like a climb. As soon as you take off, your front wheel points up ever so slightly. All the better, because it really is beautiful here, and it gets better towards the end of the climb.

The descent to El Burgo is fun, but keeps your wits about you: some corners are tricky. Once in town, go for a coffee and turn back to Ronda.
The climb up from this side is more spectacular, but also steeper. Fortunately, it’s a steady climb and you can settle into a rhythm of your liking.

Vultures are keeping you company in this area that feels very remote, even though it’s close to Ronda and the densely populated Costa del Sol. The last 20 kilometers are all downhill, so you can enjoy and relax.
Fueling up
Little signs of civilization until you reach El Burgo.
