How you can help

There are several ways to contribute to The Average Cyclist and help fellow cyclists discover great routes and useful information.

Submit a route

Found an amazing ride that others should know about? Share it with us!

We're always looking for new routes to feature. If you've ridden something special and want to help other cyclists discover it, we'd love to hear from you.

What we need:

  • GPX file of the route
  • Your own photos from the ride
  • Basic route info (distance, elevation, difficulty)
  • What makes it special

Share your expertise

Know a region really well? Have insights about cycling in a particular area?

We're interested in local knowledge, tips, and experiences that can help other cyclists. Whether it's about a specific destination, riding techniques, or planning advice – if it's useful, we want to hear about it.

This could turn into a guest article, a destination guide, or just helpful information we can share with our community.

Help improve content

Spotted something that's outdated or incorrect? Know a better route than one we've featured?

We want our content to be accurate and helpful. If you've noticed something that needs updating, or have suggestions for improvements, please let us know. Your local knowledge helps us keep everything current and useful.

What makes a good submission?

Here's what we're looking for to ensure your contribution is helpful for other cyclists.

1

You've actually ridden it

We prioritize real experiences over second-hand information. If you've personally done the route or visited the area, that's what we want to hear about.

2

Practical details

The more specific information you can provide, the better. Think distance, elevation, road surface, traffic levels, best time of year, and any gotchas other cyclists should know about.

3

Your own photos

Photos you've taken yourself help bring routes to life. We're looking for images that show what the route actually looks like – the scenery, the roads, the experience.

4

GPS track file

For route submissions, a GPX file is really helpful. It lets other cyclists follow your exact route and ensures we can map it accurately on our site.
