Route
This loop is one of the Girona classics. The highlight of is loop is the fabulous stretch from the beautiful town of Tossa de Mar to the Sant Grau monastery.
To get to Tossa de Mar, you take mostly back roads wherever possible. Around kilometer 18, you join the main road to LLagostera, where you take the fork that leads to Tossa de Mar. The road is beautiful, but sadly it’s spoilt by the majority of cars speeding quite a bit.
Just outside Tossa de Mar, you finally start to understand why people love this route, because, until now this ride has been underwhelming. 10 glorious kilometers along the coast, you turn left when you reach Salionç, where the glorious roads continue, albeit uphill. The climb to Sant Grau begins, and it’s a good one.

It’s a nice and steady climb, for the most part. There are a couple of steeper stretches up to 14% towards the end. With the impressive backdrop and the many twists and turns, you’ll do all of it with a smile on your face.
The way down leads you back to Llagostera, and towards Girona along the same roads.
Fueling up
Tossa de Mar is strategically located for a coffee. With a view of the castle, the beach and the sea, there are worse places in the world to take a break.
